Forgive my ramblings. I am a tv junkie, even more so now that I have tivo. I am still a bit salty over the White House Thief's useless and insensitive address.
American Idol and 24 is far more meaningful and truthful than anything he had to say. I am frustrated that there are too many shows that I want to see that overlap. I have to watch the AI results show, I am a fan of Tru Calling, can't miss the Apprentice, and I get a kick out of those ungreatful bastards on Making the Band II.
The American public finally got it right . They were on the money with the bottom 3. That John Peter Lewis had to go especially after Krash called him a hobbit. (now I can't get that visual out of my head...so true but dead for that...)

I watched Tru Calling because Tamayra Gray was in the episode. I love her voice and just glad to see she is working her opportunities. I also think Eliza Dushku is hot.

The Apprentice: I don't know where to begin with this one. I had a feeling that Bill would win but Kwame would benefit the most from the experience. Bill has this type of experience. He has his own company. This is a competition for a internship. With that in mind, Kwame is the best person to get the practical hands on experience need to go to the next level.

My nerves were worked watching this. That damn Omarosa Stallworth. Can we all say Uber Bitch from hell , whom I say Sabatoged Kwame on purpose. For her to be as sharp and calculating as she is, why did she fall apart during crunch time and become the black middle aged Jessica Simpson. How do you loose Jessica Simpson? And Once you find out she is lost yo do nothing about it. Just act like you know nothing about it. Then she starts thinking she is with the band and playing girl power hour in Jessica's suite while working. This Bitch can't answer the phone but is all smiles at the door. I am screaming at the tv at this point scaring the hell out of my dog. When I think she can do no more, she tells Donald, Kwame is not a strong leader and he did loose Jessica Simpson. I am like no Bitch you lost Jessica Simpson.

Kwame's downfall was trying to help a sister out and hire friends instead of the best person from the job. Omarosa says he is not a stong leader. If he would have fired her and told her about her low down, triffling, decitful, skank, hoe, bitch ways she would have been ready to fight. The other girl was complaing he was not hands on, she likes to be micro managed. That's her issue not Kwame's. I felt he remained calm under pressure.

The show was a hot topic on radio shows this morning where people were trying to play the race card. Race has nothing to do with this. I am just sad that the only negative things that could be said about Kwame's performance was a result of Omarosa. Now what I would really like to see is the conversation he had with her after the show where she is caught on tape and is revealed for the lying underhanded bitch that she is. Better yet Kwame may be too much a gentleman to tell her how he really feels. I bet Mama could roll up on her and say a few things. I know if I had been in that situation my mother would be knee deep in Omarosa's ass with her lawyer standing by explaining how Omarosa ruined her favorite pair of Jimmy Choo's

I know its been a while since my last post. I have been a bit busy and just plain tired. I had been entertaining a Chihuaua while it's owner was out of town who was mentioned in a previous entry. During this time JB got 2 6week old Jack Russel Terriers. He was giving me one and the other was supposed to go home with the Chihuaua. Well let me tell you the Chihuaua was having no parts of that. Initially he went into straight attack mode and was hateful to anyone who touched the puppies. JB decided to keep the other puppy.
My dog is named Nemo since he was the runt of the litter or 10, plus if I put on the dvd he sits still as if he is watching it. JB named his dog Remy. Ironically, the dogs we chose match our personalities. Nemo is friendly, but teritorial and slightly selfish. Remy is not impressed with anything and keeps to himself. He always manages to find a spot away from the action.

With JB and I both having dogs now is adding a new dymanic to our relationship.
It forces us to make more time for each other and to stay on a schedule. This is a good thing. These puppies have given us some hilarious moments. I had all the dogs for the first week. I had to check myself. I was giving major baby mama drama. I called JB one day and he told me he had a hard day at work and was tired so he is taking a nap. I was like I get up at the crack of dawn to take the dogs out, work hard, come home cook dinner, clean house, play with the kids, and you going to lay on your ass talking about you tired. I just had to laugh as I heard those words come out of my mouth. I know it is not the same, but I have a greater respect for single parents.

I have not had a pet in 28 years. This is a huge responsibility. A puppy can be almost expensive as a child. I treat Nemo as if he is a child, unfortunately he is spoiled rotten by now. I don't feel guilty about too many things that I may do, but when I leave for work in the morning and he just stares at me with those big brown eyes looking all sad and pittiful. It just kills me. To make up for it, I spend every moment with him from the time I come home. I even let him sleep at the foot of the bed so he feels close to me.

We pretty much have settled into a routine and I plan to post frequently again.

Stand with Cho! Tell Bush No!

It is now clear that President Bush will use attacks against gays and lesbians as a 2004 election year strategy.

This week, President Bush officially declared his support for the Federal Marriage Amendment -- a measure that would write discrimination into the United States Constitution.

This is our year to fight back and be heard.

If we stand united in 2004, we can protect our civil rights and liberties and protect the constitution from the hands of the far-right conservatives. That's why I want you to add your name along with mine to this petition -- it's time to stand up and be heard.

Our goal is huge -- 500,000 signers by June -- Pride month I want you to sign it and I want you to pass it to your friends. This is critical to our civil rights and liberties.

Bush can't run on his record, so he'll work to divide Americans on wedge issues like same-sex marriage to ignite his failing campaign. What's worse -- he's willing to do it by darkening our Constitution with an amendment that forbids our rights instead of protecting them -- the only amendment to do so save Prohibition.

All of our civil rights are at stake, and we must do everything we can to protect them. Let's start by showing them we are many, united, and will not be silent any longer. Please sign this petition today and join with the DNC in making our voices heard and defeating Bush in November.

Sincerely, Margaret Cho

On Saturday night while running errands I went to the Food Depot in Riverdale to get some things needed for dinner. While in the store I feel like this boy is following me. Initially I did not pay it any attention. I just thought " My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard...." plus I have been known to attract stalkers, crazy people, and those who like the scent of vanilla. (I hate the scent of Vanilla.) I determine he works at the store. He keeps a healthy distance while I shop but he is always in eyesight. When I leave the store he is outside gathering carts. I am loading up the car and he says he will wait for the cart. Then starts gushing..." I can't believe you are really here, I am a huge fan" Now he is standing next to me as I give him a What the hell kinda look. Then he says My Bad...did anyone tell you that you look like Cee-Lo? I awkwardly smile and say I have heard that before. ( Someone really did tell me this before)

This boy had good intentions so I was not offended. Plus I am a fan of Cee-Lo and the Goodie Mobb. However, I dont think we look a like. Plus unless he changed his look for his cd Cee-lo green is the soul machine, ( which drops today and received 3 stars from USA Today.. go buy it) He is a tad bit bigger than I am.

I told JB about what happened. He initially did not know who Cee-lo was. After a google search, he we are both short, black, and bald and have dark eyes. Then said "Atleast you don't look like a little Buda like last year.

After calling him a few muthafukas in my mind to make me feel better. I had to step up my beauty and fitness routine. I got some work to do before Damita Jo hits the streets.

JB and I took our first trip together. We went to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. This was my first trip with anybody I was involved with. It was a experience.
When we arrived it was 70 degrees and sunny. The Dr. and his partner were already there when we arrived so I was ready to have a good time.

For some reason JB was just in a foul mood from the time we arrived. I sent JB and the Dr. to Acme to get their seafood fix while Twan and I went to popeyes (neither one of us eats seafood). I thought this would calm him down. He later tells me I ruining his vacation, and we are going home in the morning. I make a quick call to j. to take myself out of the moment before I said anything. Whatever the deal was, it had nothing to do with me. Hell I have not had time do do anything but wake up and eat some chicken. Plus having a psychology minor, I know displaced aggression when I see it. I knew I had do something which is really hard for me to do. That was to sit pretty.
He insisted on leaving in the morning, I compromised and said the earliest I would leave was Tuesday after the parades. That evening we went to a party, then to the French Quarter and I acted as if nothing happened.

We were staying at the Ritz Carlton. I sincerly believe it was the hotel that made JB get with the program. The hotel is great and the service is on point. The second he laid on the feather bed he began to calm down. The next day he apologized for tripping. A good time was had from that point on.

We had a early dinner at Ralph & Kacoo's as a belated valentines day outing. Then walked through the French Quarter checking out the Antique shops and avoiding radical Christians. We had time to kill before it was time to go the bars, so we went to Harrah's Cassino. I hit the black jack table and loose $60.00 while that lucky bastard wins $220.00 of a nickel slot machine. Then on the way out wins another $90.00 on a quarter machine. He is happy now, and wants to stay until Wednesday.

Another great thing about the Ritz was the view. I was not able to catch any beads(I did accumulate a large amount before I left) but I was able to lay in bed and have a birds eye view of the parades along canal street.

It rained all day Monday so I never left the hotel plus I was broke down from being up all night on Saturday. Tuesday JB had me up at what I consider the crack of dawn to find a spot to watch the Zulu Parade. I had the perfect spot to watch the parade. It was also the worst spot to catch beads and the coveted Zulu coconuts. I could care less about a bead so I watched the parade while JB went to go find a better spot. The one time something was thrown my way, I almost did not catch it. As the item was approaching, I realized it was not a set of beads. I was a rubber snake. (In case you did not know I am terrified of snakes.) I did not scream or anything but I give the snake to the little boy next to me. I decide to go find JB and as I was leaving this old woman a few feet behind me says " you need to leave because you can't catch beads worth a damn" I was just done at that point. We laughed for a while.

After the parade, I learned something new about New Orleans. I saw the Mardi Gras Indians. I generally never leave the French Quarter so I had no idea what the big deal was about a indian. I ventured into the hood and discovered a whole new world. We were literally under the expressway along Claiborne Street. I saw the Indians Parade around through the neighborhoods in elaborate costumes. Initially I was a bit nervous about being there. It was like one huge block party. There were 2 stages with live music, tons of vendors with bootleg everything, and food. You name it it was there. Tons of shrimp, gumbo, rice, crawfish, even chicken. JB did manage to trick me. He was getting on me because I won't try Creole cuisine. I decide to get what I thought was a hot sausage. JB waits until I am finished to say I just ate aligator. I was not happy, but I could not front because with a little Ketchup that sausage was good as hell. JB seemed to eat everything in sight. He came to New Orleans to eat and be among his people. I have never seen him so happy.

By Tuesday night I was tired. I have collected enough beads, seen enough tits and dicks, had my fill of drinking and walking along Burbon Street. I sent JB to get me a PO BOY sandwhich while I watched Tyra and the girls.

With this being our first trip together. I think it went ok, we had minimal battle scars. The next trip I would prefer to be with a few couples and not in a place with thousands of drunk horny single people. Overall I had a good time and even learned a few things. I arrive home at midnight with no power on Wednesday and wake up a few hours later with snow on the ground. What the Hell

I spent Sunday dog sitting with Arturo, pictured above. I am thinking about getting a dog. Wanted to see how I would react with a dog in my space. Outside of 1 accident on my carpet we got along fine. He was my little shadow. Until J. came over and got him fired up. Which was cool. He got to jump on J for a while and give me a break. After J.'s visit we chilled on the couch watching movies. When he was not tring to hump my arm or pillow, he sat on my lap and watched Finding Nemo. I dont know if he knew what was going on, but he seemed to be paying attention. His owner says he will watch animal plant when they are showing other dogs or fish. ( This is the kind of dog I want. One who will bark like crazy when bad people stop by, but is content sitting on his doggie pillow watching Animal planet or Tyra Banks next top model show.)
My father was in town over the weekend ,and mother sent me a box of things that was in storage in her home. I guess she is like, keep your shit in your own house since my brother got a box of stuff as well.

Looking through this box was like a episode of this is your life the early years.
It had my pinewood derby car I made when I was a boy scout. Old ribbons for wrestling and track in high school, garters from the various proms I went to. ( I was straight back in those days :-)

What really took me way back were the collection of tour programs of my favorite groups. What is really funny to me is that most of the people that I know who will read this was under 3 years of age when most of these events took place. For example, Prince's Purple Rain tour in 1984, followed by the Lovesexy in 1988 (My personal Favorite) The Jacksons Victory tour, Madonna's Who's that Girl Tour. Luther Vandross with Debarge. The Jody Watley Larger than Life Tour. The Wham America tour ( do you remember them?)

I never really considerd myself a fan of hip hop, but I never missed the Fresh Fest at the UIC pavillion. Saw acts like Run DMC, Dougie Fresh, Whodini, Roxanne, UTFO, Alexander O'Neal and Cherelle, Force MD's Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam. I paged through the old Budwiser Superfest shows from 1984 with Ready For the World, Morris Day and the Time, Teena Marie, Frankie Beverly and Maze, Gladys Knight, and Patti Labelle. This was during the time when they were not restricted to a 90 minute set. Patti could sing until the spirit left her. Bands would have never ending jam sessions. The 80's were a great time for live music.

The group I saw the most was New Edition. I think I saw them every time they played Chicago. I go back to the I'm leaving you again and Mr. telephone man, Cool it now, Lost in love and My secret days with Bobby still in the group. I was a die hard fan. I had all of the albums, even have a copy of the All for Love tour. Bobby left they got Johnny Gill and released NE Heartbreak. With cuts like Crucial, If it isn't Love, and to this day you can't say Can you stand the rain is still not the jam.

New Eddition has been around for 20 years now. They are one of the most under rated groups around. If it was not for them at lot of groups would not be getting paid. There would be no New Kids on the Block, Backstreet boys, Nsync, or 98 degrees. When NE left Maucice Starr's label, Maurice was savy enough to get 5 white guys, with a pop sound with a slight R&B beat and sell it to middle America. New Edition would never achieve the commercial success of the current incarnations of boy bands. Not since the Jackson 5 have we had a black boy band. There was a niche for New Edition. Since New Edition the only black group who had potential to compete on the commercial level with the white boy bands was B2K and they are fucking up too early in the game.

My mother also sent my old poster collection and magazines. I know I kept Cynthia Horner in business. I was a loyal reader of Right ON magazine and Black Beat. I collected every picture I could find of Janet, Prince, Madonna, Sheila E, and Vanity.

These Artists provided the soundtrack of my youth. That box took me on a nice trip down memory lane. Now back to my so called life.

JB and I are taking our first trip together next week. We are going to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. He wants to celebrate Valentines Day then. The only thing I wanted to do was see Dionne Farris at the Appache Cafe. JB did not want to go, J. did not have time to run it by loverboy, plus I could not get a table seat. I was in no mood to be standing for hours. It was a cold rainy night so I was not really pressed about going anywhere. I did break the rules and got JB some ballons and roses.

I spent the evening with a nice candlelit soak in the jacuzzi tub soothed by the sounds of Dianne Reeves and a bottle of Moet. Then watched a great copy of Monster on DVD.
Monster is a excellent movie. Charlize Theron truly deserves the Oscar for her portrayal of Aileen Carol Wuornos. A highway prostitute executed for killing seven men in Florida during the 1980s. Christina Ricci gives a solid performance as Shelby, Aileen's lesbian love interest.

I was reacting to this movie as if I personally knew these people. I felt the Aileen was a good person who caught several bad breaks, but did what she had to do to survive. When she found someone to bring a little happiness in her life, her nose was wide open, just totally caught out there. And the object of her desire was her downfall. In the name of love, she got rid of logic and conventional wisdom.

Aileen's story was extreme, but what I think captivated me with the movie were my thoughts of various people I have met or heard of over the years who are in these compulsive, addictive, and destructive relationships. Sans the murders, I am sure we all know somebody living this life, or possibly we could have walked down this road ourselves at one point in life.

On Saturday I went to see the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater at the Fox Theater. It was a last minute decision. It seems like they are here every February, and I have seen them every visit since 1995. I managed to get a ticket to the 8:00pm show. (Lucky for me I don't have a problem going places by myself.)
This performance consisted of material I have never seen before. Heart Song, Treading, Juba, and closed with Revelations. Treading was my favorite. The duet between Linda-Denise-Fisher-Harrell and Clifton Brown was one of the most sensual numbers I have ever seen. I wish I were able to find out the story the choreographer was trying to convey. It begins with a man coming out of the darkness followed by the woman. Their movements gave the feeling of growth and self discovery. Then you see them discover each other and the struggle to maintain what they have.

I always enjoy Revelations. Even though I see it every year , I still get excited during Didn't my Lord Deliver Daniel, Fix me Jesus, Wade in the Water, and Rocka My Soul in the Bosom of Abraham. Revelations is a powerful piece. The combination of blues and gospel music, and the dance takes me on a spiritual journey from being a down and out sinner to the place of the redeemed.

I love this ensemble. My ideal show would consist of Black Milk, Cry, Episodes, Divining, Hymn, Rainbow Round My Shoulders, Treading, Grace, and Revelations. I am sure this will never happen, but if they can record it and place on DVD. I would be one of the first to purchase it.

Words can't describe the company's beauty, style, and grace. I suggest that everyone should treat themselves to the experience if ever given the chance.

Today was a somber day at work. A friend of mine in the training department was laid off today. It was a shock since she is one of the most loyal employees we have and she has worked for the company for 18 years. It is understandable because of business needs that cuts me made. Everyone assumed she would have been protected with another job in the company. That just killed whatever fantasy we had of job security. If they would let her go, we could be dismissed at anytime.

I work in corporate meeting planning and incentive travel. The industry has been hit hard since September 11. Plus you are as only as good as your contract and the is negotiated about every 2 years. So the possibility of being laid off is always present.

My friend Jules is handeling it well and joked about me asking my parents if they will take care of her too. (LOL) I then asked what did she plan to do next. She is thinking about going back to school to become a nurse. Jules then asked me a question I could not answer and it is bugging the hell out of me.
While discussing how do we explain what we really do on a day to day basis to someone who is not in the travel industry. Jules asked where do I see myself in 10 years. I could not answer. She said 5 years still no answer. She just turned 40 so the idea of starting over in a new industry is not that exciting. She advised that I get it together now while I still have time.

I have not felt this way since I turned 30. Throughout my childhood and high school years I could tell you exactly what I wanted to do, and how and when I planned to do it. I turned 21, came out, and had to deal with the reality of a few things and I got off course.

Growing up I always wanted a job that would have me traveling the world. I had dreams of working with the United Nations as a translator. The plan was to master French, Spanish, and German. I studied 3 years of Spanish and 4 years of French and never touched German nor pursued my UN dreams. While in College I majored in International Business and had new dreams of law school.
I still have those dreams but instead of finishing I got offered a job with a major company in my junior year and I got used to the check and new lifestyle and I never finished. I am a semester shy of my degree.

I did not Panic at 30 once I realized I have a house, car, decent job that has allowed me to travel the world. I did not take the course I mapped out at 21, but I told myself I accomplished enough. I am 34 now. I like my job but with new technology I can soon be replaced by a computer and someone who is willing to work for a third of my salary. It is time for a new challenge. I am not high maintenance but I do realize it costs a lot of money to keep my show on the road. So a higher salary is necessary, something with a challenge, and I need to be fulfilled.

I can identify what I need, not sure of what I want, and do not have a 5-10 year plan in place. I should be thinking about retirement and I still don't know what I want to do when I grow up.

This ends my rant for today.
